There will be a stand/tent in Quorn yard for this project during the GCR Winter Steam Gala (Thursday 23rd, Friday 24th, Sat 25th and Sunday 26th). This will have details on the latest machining of the cylinder block and status of the newly cast driving wheels.
There are nearly 800 followers of the Fa**b**k site so a good increase in interest.

The 567 website has been updated with pictures and videos of the tender move, back to Loughborough via Quorn.

A detailed assessment of the tender has been made and the removal of the tank is now imminent.

Here are some pictures of the tender outside the shed at Loughborough. The similarities to the tender of the 04 63601 are very apparent. Also, it is a puzzle, as obviously an extra pair of buffers have been fitted but the hand brake and tender coal opening are at the South end...but the tender to locomotive draw bar opening appears to be at the North end of the chassis?

It's an ex-ROD tender so the two holes either side of the rear drawbar hole are for the extra chains they were fitted with. The front bufferbeam will have been a later addition, hence why there's no lateral movement possible of the drawbar on the handbrake end. GCR tenders didn't have the extra chains.

It’s presumably spent some time in departmental service and was modified so it could be shunted easily?

Water carrier, sludge carrier - take your pick, there were various uses for tenders after the locos they were attached to had been scrapped.

You can see the original ROD arrangement complete with side chains on one of the J.A.Brown examples.

I hope the 567 group will keep the side chain holes as a nod to the history of this particular tender. Even if not authentic to their replica engine.

I dont believe the tender is authentic to their replica engine either. Isnt this one larger than the type fitted to the original members of thr class?
