Ah, so THAT'S what's going on behind the hoardings at PNVR!! I saw them the other week when I met @Spamcan81 and Coco (sp?) for lunch at Charters - he said it was to do with the Wansford Road station building but I had no idea that the work was so advanced. I didn't think they'd even moved the building yet.

Apparently Tornado is also undergoing a steam test today.

Noticed a large number of photographers gathered by Wansford LC on Railcam to photograph 60103's arrival on the goods photo charter just now. They've got a nice sunny day for it too :)

i note building is at ninety degrees to the platform . apart from the visual appeal on arrival I presume there was some logic in this placement

AFAIK there’s not enough room to put it on either side of the platform. Northside is Railworld in very close proximity and southside is the loop hard on the railway boundary

Rather like (new) Wansford's at ninety degrees to the platform.

Yesterday was a fantastic day - never mind your Grandads, my son fired Flying Scotsman (a big thank you to Danny from Northern Steam for making that happen), and our wagon (LMS M470944) was in the rake. Lots of happy punters and lots of great photos and footage from the day appearing on social media. If you missed it, you missed out, it's very unlikely to happen again. We will be doing the daytime photo charter stuff all over again on 12th March with Britannia on the front.

Some great shots from Jack Boskett here: https://www.facebook.com/jackbosket...rq5kNixd6eMrr4vPdpi4iCSTvEccHf17dv7U1nomHN1hl

Every time I've looked at Railcam today, there have been different coaches parked outside Wansford station - has it been "coach party day" today, as befits the first day of (Meteorological) Spring?

Yes, at least 2 or 3 full trains were coach packages today... So no pacer connection service!

I am really hoping all this will be a real boost to the NVR coffers.

As I understand it, there are a couple of reasons. As you say, the visual appeal of the building was that is was designed to be approached from the front. Because of the way the Railworld/PNVR site is, if it were along the platform as per it's original configuration, that wouldn't be seen any more on the approach.

The other, more practical reason is that it's intended as a joint entrance to both the NVR and Railworld. To control access to both attractions, it needs to be central to both at the entrance to the site.

I attended the evening photo charter on Friday and had a brilliant time so thank you very much to everyone at the NVR and the Wagon Group for organising it. It was my first photo charter and the first time I'd properly tried night-time photography so I wasn't too sure what to expect but was very pleased with how the evening went. I've attached some of the photos I got.

Friday's charter was probably one of my most favourite days photographing that I've had. Came away very happy indeed. The fact it was once in a lifetime, is unlikely to ever happen again and was blessed with perfect sun all day just made it all that more special.
