I have a naive question. Why did so few of the final Bulleids from 1967 survive? I'm thinking of the likes of 34036/60/89 etc which were fully active to the end. And yet Tangmere was withdrawn much earlier than that. Is it simply that the last ones were sent to Cashmore's and none ended up at Barry?

Pretty well. All the Barry Bulleids were withdrawn between 1963 and 1966 although the last MNs to arrive (including 35010/27/29) did not reach Barry until March 1967. Woodhams did end up with a couple of SR 1967 withdrawals (80151, which lasted until May and 41312, which lasted until July) and would have had a couple more had the two USA tanks now at the K&ESR not developed hot boxes at Tonbridge but all the Bulleids that remained in service until 1967 were scrapped elsewhere - except for 34023 and 35028, of course.

34028 Eddystone soon to be a mainline engine, happened to be the first rebuilt light pacific withdrawn from service at the end of May 1964

Great to see pictures of 35005 Canadian Pacific moving under its own power again. This makes it 4 working MNs at the same time, I believe (Clan Line, Can Pac, British India and P & O). Have we ever had this number all operational before?

I'm fairly sure the only MN that has previously operated in preservation which is not at present operational would be Port Line. 35006 and 35018 are both on first tickets and 35027 last steamed long before they returned. So there have been three previously, because 35005 and 35027 overlapped, but not four.

So, of the other preserved MNs, I believe we have 35009 Shaw Savill at Rileys (?) being worked on intermittently...Next one to steam?. 35011 Blue Star at CVR not progressing(?). 35011 General Steam Navigation (to Leaky Finders)Unrebuild slow stripping down.. 35022 Holland America Spares at LSL. 35025 Brocklebank Line re assembly started at Sellinge (SLL). 35027 Port Line LSL complete awaiting overhaul.

Not that I'm aware of, but it'll be very brief. I think it's been said 35006 comes out of service in the Autumn and 35018 can't be far of withdrawal either (unless it manages to get an extension to achieve a full 10 years).

A great opportunity for all four to 'gather' on foreign turf in Derby for The Great Gathering. I try not to have 'favourites' yet find myself thinking that one can't have too many Bulleids wherever it might be!

35006 officially dies in July according to the latest Cornishman, but an extension to the end of the running season is hoped for.

I would’ve thought that 35025 would be the next to steam. It is being actively worked on, whereas 35009 is not (I believe it’s a fill in job when the works has free time which is pretty unlikely!).
35010 is a future project for the BELPS, although there were some rumours last year that it could be for sale.
35011 is going to be very long term assuming the group can gain some traction for their fundraising.
35022 is to be eventually restored although it will apparently lend its boiler to 35027
35025 being actively worked on at Sellindge by SLL, a group with a great track record
35027 is heading towards Barry condition again, although LSL still list it as awaiting overhaul

35011 also ran over the S&D, despite the MNs being banned!

Was locomotives with copper fireboxes cut up faster than those with Steel?

I think there was no real difference, all scrapyards, bar Woodhams, seem to have cut up locomotives virtually as they arrived. The time taken would depend upon how many men were "gas axing" on each locomotive.

But that opening whistle is a cut and paste sound not related to the Belle. Just saying. Nice none the less.
