WSR are having an autumn steam event 17-19th October. Name of the event was not disclosed in the latest WSRA journal.

Nene Valley have just announced a visit of Britannia from 12th-17th March (including a photo charter, drive ex, dining trains and a running weekend).

Also, noticed on the website a "Rail 200" gala on 12/13th September.

 

Can we have a pin to the top of the page please as per previous years, very useful resource this for calendar planning, ta!

 

Sir Berkeley to visit the Mid Suffolk Light Railway and run as part of a Easter Gala on 20th and 21st April 2025.

 

I noticed the Bodmin & Wenford 2025 timetable/calendar is now up on their website and it lists the following galas:

April 26-27: Spring steam gala
May 24-25: Branch line gala
Sept 13-14: Diesel gala
Dec 29: Winter steam-up

No dedicated China Clay weekend on there this year from what I can see, so I'm kicking myself a bit for not managing to make it to last September's as I hoped. But Judy is listed as giving clay wagon rides on the Easter, early May and August bank holiday Mondays.

 

Please note that the Bluebell Railway Giants of Steam dates over 10th-12th October is pushed back a week and will now take place over 17th-19th October

 

Embsay Hunslet Gala just announced on their Facebook page for the end of June


HOT OFF THE PRESS- Hunslet Gala 2025!

Join us from Friday 27th to Sunday 29th of June 2025, for the Hunslet Gala at the Embsay & Bolton Abbey Steam Railway!

This event will be a grand celebration of Britain’s rich industrial heritage and the highlight of our Railway 200 festivities.

Our railway’s longstanding association with industrial locomotives is epitomised by our resident 16” Hunslet, Beatrice, the pride of our fleet.

Building on this legacy, the gala will showcase the evolution of the ‘Fitzwilliam’ Class of Hunslet locomotives, featuring an eclectic locomotive line up ranging from 14” to 18” examples.

The featured locos will be announced shortly - we are extremely excited to confirm what we believe will be a deeply interesting lineup!

Experience an intensive timetable throughout the gala, featuring our beautifully restored MK1 carriages and the impressive LNER Thompson Bar Car.

A demonstration Goods Train will also be running throughout the weekend, providing a glimpse into the past workings of rail freight transport - brake van rides will of course be available.

At Bolton Abbey station, immerse yourself in a range of industrial-themed model railway layouts and explore trade stands offering modeling products and railway memorabilia.

On Saturday evening, indulge on our ‘Hunslet Haddock’ service aboard the Dales Dining set, savouring the finest fish and chips from Bizzie Lizzies as you journey through the picturesque Yorkshire countryside.

Our Box Van Bar at Embsay will be open throughout the weekend - a perfect spot for a few scoops and watch the trains shuffle by.

As the long summer days draw to a close, capture perfect shots during the evening - take advantage of the extended daylight and provide unparalleled photographic opportunities.

Final details will be announced soon - we have more exciting plans for this event!

This gala promises to be the largest we’ve hosted in recent memory - a true celebration of our industrial past and a key event in the Railway 200 celebrations.

The timetable currently on the Bodmin Railway website only goes to April and doesn't feature any galas.

The Bodmin Railway Facebook page states that the Spring Steam Gala is 16-18 May

 

Is anyone on NP able to confirm or know whether there are likely to be any galas at The Caledonian Railway this year? I've emailed but no response as yet.

The website doesn't indicate anything as such at this point (March).

 

Yes I'd noticed that had changed since the one I saw on the site back in January. Pretty sure I didn't imagine the previous as the notes I took for my list of possible 2025 plans were pretty detailed! Apologies for being premature, though - I always spend a lot of January refreshing railways' websites looking for new-season info so I can start making plans.
