Keighley's spring gala is always one of the best in the steam calendar.

 

Sentinel 7232 ANN and Avonside 1973 DORA have now been added to the list of locos.

 

Jinty 16440 added too

 

2 of the above locos now removed from list 78022 & 75078, plus 45212 which was never rostered for the gala

And given the size of KWVR, it's a fair response.

 

There's also a potential 3rd guest too. So I have an open mind and wait a bit longer to decide on going

 

I’m looking forward to it. The two visitors are both appealing to me and the opportunity for increased mileage behind the smaller locos, which always sound so great on the KWVR, as a result of a couple of the larger home fleet locos not running is also a tick in my book.

 

I didn't say i wasn't going, just passing a opinion, i will be getting my 4 day rover ticket as usual

 

Hardly like they're being banished to the shadow realm either. They're likely going to be available in the event of crisis. A lineup of mostly the smaller locos of the fleet and Bahamas puts this in the Somewhat Rateable category. I I knew where to book gigs in the Keighley area, I may have used it as justification to be there.

44871 has been added as a 3rd visitor.

75078 and 78022 also appear, but only on one day each.

 

The theme for 2025 was LMS - so the 3F, 8F and a Black 5. That's alongside 1054, 52044, 41241 and 45596 all with LMS origins. The LMS had a Sentinal similar to "Ann" also.

78022/75078 will play a small part and act as standby for the event of a failure.

 

Can I ask PLEASE if anyone is able to advise which direction the locos
will be facing for the gala -- any help mucho appreciated

Everything should face up the hill.

16440 is currently facing Keighley ahead of Tuesday's photo charter, but will be turned during the day. 44871 is scheduled to arrive tomorrow and should be facing uphill towards Oxenhope.

 

48305 is due to stay all season till end of September/early October according to the GCR Loughborough shedworks page on FB
