Passed a tender and locomotive on the M1 northbound this evening , around chesterfield ish . Looked like a 9F but was difficult to make out in the dark . Anybody any idea what this might have been? Will dig out the dash cam footage tomorrow for those interested

Britannia made an unscheduled stop at Huntingdon this morning, whilst working south from the Nene Valley Railway to Southall.
It appeared as though there was something (possibly a hot box?) on the support coach...

After about 5 minutes, she continued her way southwards.

Should be whatever does the WCRC Edinburgh job on the Saturday heading back to Southall.
Both 45212 and 44871 will be at Carnforth come Monday so it could be either or I’m guessing does that Edinburgh trip.

 

A couple of VAR paths have appeared on RTT for Wednesday 26th, 5M52 Carnforth Steamtown to Hellifield GL and 5M53 Hellifield GL- B'burn-Preston-Carnforth. Something (big) on a loaded test run?

And if successful very likely to appear on one of the West Coast jobs for next Saturday maybe? Fingers Crossed.

 

As Oswald has posted elsewhere current RYTC website shows Tangmere, but things can change. This is 10A after all

 

Rather selfishly I'm at Carlisle behind Bahamas next Saturday, so was quietly hoping Tornado might appear on the WCME!! Tangmere I'm more than happy with too..

 

The train operator code is shown as West Coast, so I suspect a Black 5.
The last few movements by 4472/60103/98772 have been operated by DB Cargo.

According to the owner's Facebook page, the boiler had its out of frames steam test on Friday - 11 days to get the loco reassembled, moved to the ELR and tested!
