Thanks. I wondered if it was to do with the construction.

Good to see the shed almost complete

Sad to read in the latest 4-TC update how metal thieves (not at Swanage) has made the restoration difficult.
    https://www.4tcgroup.co.uk/latest.html
    But is making progress.
Hope the new shed and for stock left trackside will have some electronic and physical protection.

With the irony being that the portaloo is all the way up the platform, up the slope or the steps, and half way down the bridge. But I guess just too difficult to empty near the worksite. Not a project to have "an urgent need".

Well guys, I know I go on about this WAY too much and I apologise in the long run, but, I am actually a bit pensive about the visit of 4953 'Pitchford Hall'.

    1. Does it actually fit your railway?
    2. For a while I have said 'I'm really looking forward to seeing X' and when I visit, it's busted.
    For example:
    4079 - MHR Spring 2023.
    Lambton 29 - MHR Spring 2024.
    'Henbury' - SDR Winter 2025.
    68067 - BBR Branchline 2025.

Part of me wonders if that's going to happen.

I hear what you say, Swanage is soooo mickey mouse, no idea. Having loco's off the network, units, train sets is so new to them, cannot believe they are so stupid to accept a locomotive that they haven't done all the gauging stuff.

Looked out of the lounge window across the park this afternoon and someone was coming into Swanage on one of these.
Cannot remember seeing one in Swanage before. A bit cool today I suspect.

The railway has a number of Geismar man riders (or whatever they're called) plus associated trailers.
Just look on: http://www.srstock.co.uk/ and scroll down to 'Other Equipment' section for a full listing.
I believe they are only used in a possession as they might not trip track circuits.
Your picture shows a nice level of rust on the tyres although I thought they were made from something akin to a lightweight alloy rather than steel.

To be honest, I've no idea how (in)frequently the Geismar man-riders are used.
If Road Rail Vehicles are in use for PW duties then I think they, and their braked trailers, are used.
Otherwise, 'shank's pony' is the only other system available and this is used for the weekly track walk of course.

One of the railway's diesel electric cranes due to be hauled to Herston on Friday, with a 'Dolphin' bogie bolster wagon, to collect the contractor's welfare unit (and any other bits and pieces) to clear the site ready for railway use.

When I walked back from the town earlier the U had just had a fire lit. So anyone who perhaps may have been going to the MHR and then planning to come and see the T3 (per the roster) would be advised to check with the railway I suggest.

It seems that 4953 Pitchford Hall has been checked for and gauging issues today. It was towed by the Class 33 diesel and was seen at Corfe, both directions and at Swanage. All seems well, well I hope so.

"Management" wanted "the staff" to go and pay some money in at the Post Office for the charity she volunteers with. Pure luck that this coincided with the Hall arriving at Swanage.
Cannot beat BR Black even on a GWR loco.

Was it deliberate to have the 'close' lettering on the gate included?
