OK thanks, explains why WCR are busy painting MkIIs in maroon. I hope they do somehow manage to get their MkI retro fitted with CDL (as indeed were the MkIIs in pre preservation days)

There is no prohibition on non-CDL stock, rather they cannot convey passengers.

I mean 6 of 1, half a dozen of the other tbh. Still equaits to the fact that they can’t run a railtour and carry passengers in those vehicles .

Having been to Greenholme this morning to see Bahamas and Tangmere I returned home, had lunch (cheese on toast), loaded up the video of the morning's events and had a brew. By then it was time to leave for Wilpshire to see Tangmere (again) - oh for Scots Guardsman! It had rained heavily in the early afternoon but this changed to drizzle and that had all but petered out. So off I went, the windscreen wipers made only the odd sweep of the screen - would it be too much to hope for a brighter sky?! As I neared Wilpshire the drizzle stopped. The traffic gods were kind and I arrived at 16.50, with Tangmere booked to appear at 17.21, but on past form she would probably be early. It had now begun to drizzle, but not too much. I headed down to the station where there was only one "regular" and he was waiting in the shelter.

As the light was dire and the platform was empty I decided to set up in about 2/3 of the way along (towards Clitheroe) and pan round as the train passed. Tangmere had left Clitheroe (4E). The drizzle became heavier, the sky became darker, adjustments were made to the camera but the depth of field had to be sacrificed to retain a usable shutter speed. Tangmere appeared amidst a cloud of white exhaust, and was making the sort of noises that we have come to expect. Emerging from her own white cloud she headed towards the station, thro' the platforms and away up the hill - Oswald managed to pan round without kicking the tripod leg with his size 12s - hurray! As I watched the train head up over the summit I stepped back and off one of the textured paving slabs, the paving slab was loose, the paving slab rocked, a tripod leg was on the paving slab, the tripod moved, the camera rocked and Oswald was very, very cross (he might even have sworn, under his breath of course). I intend to sue Nitwork Rail for . . . ?, I'll think of something. 7.5C, drizzling, feeling cold & 8E AND the diesel was pushing!

(Maisie notes: Maisie now likes going outside but only if someone accompanies her and only if there are no sudden unexplained noises. She is an accomplished tree climber (pigeons being the intended target), this far she has returned to earth in a safe and controlled manner (from 10-12 feet up). She is very territorial, even if she isn't strictly on her home turf. Dogs are there to be avoided or hissed at. Cats are easier prey, Dennis, a large ginger tom who lives in the next road and is very friendly suffered her rebuff, after the friendliest of approaches by him. Misky, a lovely timid but friendly cat who lives a few doors away has been chased away twice. Maisie is going to have to learn some social skills.)

A couple of shots of Tangmere at Carlisle. Unbelievably I can't remember seeing this loco before with it spending a lot of time down south in its first ticket - so quite glad to clap eyes on it finally!

I think the OHLE is off in Carnforth U&DGLs due to the new connection into 10A currently being put in.

Thanks, so is a new connection actually fact rather than rumour, wonder who is paying for that, if its WCR would suggest they plan to remain around long term!

Les at Old Linslade on Saturday morning. Don't know if it has been mentioned here before but some palisade fencing has gone in at the spot here, possibly recently and certainly since I was last there. The trusty folding stool proved vital once again.
