And I seem to remember that there was a massive fire in the Glenfinnan area caused by a GW interloper during the filming of the second Harry Potter film - and that was at the end of a very dry February.

You would think that after forty years people would cease to be surprised by fire restrictions in the West Highlands in the spring time.

Mountain fires started around by us here in Mid-Wales last month and it is only getting drier. I was starting to get concerned about fire risk for the Bahamas trip, but didn't take into account the S&C micro climate!!

The Scottish Highlands are extremely remote and once a fire starts it could take weeks to put out. It is the perfect conditions for fire at the moment, dry, with little fresh growth anywhere. April is often a great time to visit the West Highlands, very often fine and settled weather - so no, I'm not in the slightest bit surprised.

There are dire warnings to hikers in Knoydart, Cape Wrath Trail etc to be extremely prudent and careful. I suspect there are places in the interior where it would never be put out except naturally.

I trust Mr Riley has the kind of deal/relationship with WCR re the Jacobite operation which will see him all right if there are extended problems this year.

It does indeed. 1 MK2 in the consist is the earlier style A-C with the opening top windows, but the rest are coffins.

Was there ever any serious rumour of Mk1's wasn't it at best just a WIBN?

Don't forget the Mk 3 sleeper, offering a new class not previously offered for travellers....

Pretty embarrassing for the Class 47 needing 2 Black 5's to bank it up Shap & Beattock!

The most I’d heard was when out photting the Whitby Flyer the other week. A relatively in the know photter said WCR were mid way through preparing a CDL rake for the Jacobite….

    Clearly not :(

I think that earlier Mk2 brake may be a support coach, it doesn’t seem to have CDL.

When it comes to WCR, I don't think anyone is "relatively in the know". They could teach MI5 a few lessons about secrecy!

I would have thought that the First Class rake for GBXVII will give a better indication of what West Coast is going to send out in 2025.

I thought with the high volume of complaints they got last year for the Jacobite this would have been top priority

As pointed out on wnxxforum.co.uk, the booking page doesn't show any tours until 1st May. You can click on "show sold out trips" or something similar and that's the first date listed, nothing at all for April. Trips cancelled or simply removed from the booking engine?

At least if they do run, the 47 that went up with the stock will be able to power the air con and make the stock a bit more comfortable!

2Y61 and 2Y62 are not cancelled in RTT ( data from Network Rail ) so a fair assumption is they will run.

    Cheers, Neil
