I see this event has changed its name to “Dwarves of Steam”.

4253 Facebook page says the group're currently working on Gervase, as well as their own loco, at Rolvenden. I've no idea if it's possible but - wouldn't it be nice if Gervase was ready in time? :)

Knowing several people with dwarfism, 'midget' is genuinely quite an offensive term. Dwarve/dwarf (both spellings are fine) is the correct term and they appreciate people treating them with respect.

Correct. Dwarf at least has precedent in folklore. Midget is no better a term than the sort used by PT Barnum.

From the website the "dwarves" are running intensively between Tenterden and Wittersham Road - does this mean there will be nothing running between Wittersham Road and Bodiam?

Am I correct, sadly, in assuming that 30585 and 30587 are both currently non-operational and therefore have no chance of being at the event?

This looks like an incredibly endearing gala. In recent years it's been the larger stuff that's tempted me to the KESR (Foxcote Manor, the Bulleid, the 37 at the diesel gala - most of which I had to miss due to work in the end, or in the case of 7822 because it failed before my visit!), but I'm even more excited for this than any of those.

Can imagine water capacity and maybe speed too means it makes sense to limit operations to Tenterden-Wittersham, which will be quite nostalgic in itself as some of my earliest visits as a kid were when Wittersham (or maybe a bridge just beyond it?) was the terminus before Northiam reopened.

    Wenlock vindt dit leuk.

I did once suggest that someone should have a "Gnats of Steam" gala, as a play on the Bluebell's own gala. I didn't expect it to be us, though!

I hope this question does not come across as facetious, but does it matter what the word is applied to? I can see the offence with people, but items like submarines have been labelled "midget" in history.

See https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-merseyside-59981811 around the renaming of midget gems.

Now they have announced Judy and Willy The Well Tank as visitors... I'm really tempted to go, why did it HAVE to be the same weekend as the Watercress Line's gala??!!:mad:

We are in full swing preparing for the event.

As stated above the timetables are written and available.

Marcia has been fitted with a new whistle I acquired last year.

The three little engines will be hauling at vintage set made up for the Woolwich brake, Metropolitan and District railways coaches - strengthened on the last run for the triple header to Tenterden with the Family Saloon and GE brake.

The other set features two Mk1 coaches.

Workshop tours are available at Rolvenden.

The last train on Saturday will feature Judy leading Marcia leading Willy back up Tenterden bank. Sundays last train sees the order reversed.

Why not come along and say hi. I will be driving Judy on Saturday.

It’s not often you have a gala where a terrier is the largest engine on the roster!

Sadly with our Bodiam 25 celebrations and Easter it was the only weekend available.
