45596 Bahamas NYMR to SVR 17th April 2025

    After the disappointment yesterday with a diesel on the front of Galatea, today i went over to Moorthorpe to see 45596 Bahamas

    also on its way to the SVR Steam gala this time with no diesel pilot, but running about 45 minutes late i have no idea what went on at York to make it so late

    Seeing that you asked Neil I can tell you. Firstly there was a delay at Northallerton East as we had tripped a hotbox detector. Not unusual on a steam working but we had to examine the loco for Network Rail's peace of mind. Then there was a points failure at the south end of York Yard North so we had to set back to Skelton Junction and ended up being routed through Platform 3 at York. Pleased to report that there was nothing wrong with the loco, it was all part of a days work with steam operations.
