I tend to do a swallow dive when disembarking.

 

That gives me an excluse to re-post this one.

 

Did they get back in the same way?

 

I've just been reading about the saving and restoration of 'Newstead' in the latest SR. A great achievement to all involved! I'm curious as to how this engine didn't end up returning to the NVR (where the restoration had started) once fit for service. I would of thought it would be a great little engine for that line, particularly where full carriage rakes aren't required. The North Norfolk railway seems to have an abundance of motive power at the minute so wouldn't have thought it would get any more steaming days than the NVR. Though happy to be corrected.

 

60163 arriving on Saturday afternoon 3rd May and will work services on Sunday 4th.

 

I'm going to the GNRS meeting tomorrow where the guest speaker is from the A1SLT.

I have questions...

Sorry, it was a long time ago (6 April 1974) and I cannot answer. Indeed I do not remember actually seeing it but just found the picture when I had my slides digitised. I think the location was Hereford.

"Helga" the Swedish Railcar (along with the Sentinel and 4144) looking good in the sunshine at Wansford as preparations are under way for the Bank Holiday VE-80 commemorations.

 

Pleased to say the services on the NVR are well patronised today - in fact, I'm standing as I type this. Greatly enjoyed the display by the wagon group at Overton; I foresee great things in the future there.

Excellent roast dinner at Wansford earlier too.

 

The photos they put on Facebook this morning showed a very busy Wansford station, great to see.

Likewise - could have talked for longer I reckon Enjoyed Josh's 'O' gauge layout too - far more entertaining than what was at Wansford IMO

Is there any reason why Goldeneye wasn't mentioned in that piece? Seems odd that Octopussy was and Goldeneye not. Probably the most fun a class 20 has ever had...

 

I'm tempted to say it's because Octopussy used the wagons But it's probably just that the Octopussy train sticks in people's memory more? Or even more likely, the person who fed the journalist the info only mentioned that one...who knows!

 

IiRC there are two very good reasons for octopussy to stick in the mind...
