The Hollycombe website says that there will be three visiting locos on the narrow gauge. One of them is Statfold, anybody know what the other two are?

"This was once a loco similar to Ecelsior, not it isnt,.."

Presumably this should read "..Excelsior, now it isn't.." ?

It is a Kerr Stuart "Brazil" class loco, adapted to look somewhat like a "Tamar" class. KS offered saddle or side tank versions of a number of its classes - the saddle-tank "Tattoo" had the side-tank "Thames" equivalent in the same way.

She does still have her saddle tanks!! I saw them in her shed last year, however I am not sure if they have been refitted, I guess not, anyways will find out on the 16th! I am pretty certain she used to work at British Aluminium in Fort William, although I am not 100% sure! She is a lovely machine though!

This is what an unaltered Brazil looks like!

As you can see very different.

Yup, I believe that's correct. Slightly different now though, side tanks and 2' gauge rather than saddle tank and 3'. Hmm.

Yes, it was just STATFOLD (and resident JERRY M) on the narrow gauge, plus two resident steam locos (BOB and JENNIFER) and a couple of nondescript diesels (petrols?) on the miniature railway. A bit disappointing, but as this was my first visit and I "required" STATFOLD, it was still a good day (the weather helped).

The lack of information, or, more specifically, misleading information about this event was very poor. Even now, after the event, the Hollycombe website continues to say three visiting locos. On Thursday last week I sent an e-mail to the address on the website asking about the visiting locos. I received a reply from someone who said they didn't have the info but had forwarded my message to the organisers of the weekend - I heard nothing more. On Saturday, I phoned the number on the website and got a recorded message telling me to refer to the website for more information!

Yes, any visit to Hollycombe is good for any steam enthusiast (how could it not be). I think it's because there is virtually no paid staff, even the cafe people are volunteers, that admin problems such as these arsie.

Have jsut got back from the DLR where Josaphine is kept (the loco mentioned above), and she was steaming fine, so I don't know why she wasn't at Hollycombe, if she was invited at all!
