The main steam pipe is a thin-walled copper pipe. The longest section runs from the regulator box to a clamped joint just behind the opening for the safety valve. The removal of this section allows entry into the boiler. Entry requires the use of a stay jack between two longitudinal stays - rotund persons need not apply! The joint between the main steam pipe and the regulator box must be an interference fit. Clamping would require someone in the boiler and once the MSP is fitted, escape would be impossible! The regulator box provides the seal. Maybe the fit is too loose?

Here's my flashback video of Pendennis Castle putting in an incredible performance at the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway Spring Steam Gala back in March. The engine was sensational and this video brought back some incredible memories during my visit. Shame that Pendennis Castle was withdrawn early, but it was still an amazing centenary for the loco. I hope you enjoy it and Happy New Year everyone.

Is 4079 fit for traffic again now? It would be great to understand what the issue was in the end.

Looks great, will look nice alongside 2999. Is this combination only for Scotsman visit or something shorter or longer term?

On Facebook there's a post suggesting it's staying with this tender until October
