How about you stop the aggressive tone to everyone else?

So far you have apparently replied to a post 4 months old while quoting the question about the website, which made it look like you were giving an aggressive response. Then when someone points out following your explanation you launch into another rant.

It’s hardly encouraging engagement. I suggest you think about how you respond in future and consider that maybe sometimes it’s better to say nothing, especially when several months have passed.

I hope you take this advice onboard.

If that's the case perhaps you could enlighten us with some updates. Are there any?

Exactly, be polite or find access restricted if it continues, simple as that.

From a complete outsider's perspective, regardless of any animosity between @Elizabeth Perry and the line's current management - suggesting that no accounts have been filed since the 2020 ones were submitted (in 2022), that there has been an annual proposal to strike off the company and that the only submissions to CH have been objections to said strike off proposal since 2022 is simply reporting what is freely available publicly on the Companies House website, and can't really be defined as slander. Whilst I'm sure that everyone here wishes the line and those who work on it the absolute best, and there is no doubt that there is a level of commitment to making the line a success with the travelling public, if the company folds due to administrative errors (whether by intent or accident), then that commitment and drive is liable to be all for naught.

Please believe me, there’s was no aggression meant by the question. A genuine question, maybe I’ve missed something.

I get it, and take on board what people say about saying nothing.

I do however stand by my dilemma, how long is certain individuals going to be allowed to be slanderous. This individual has posted fake reviews, negative trip advisors. Even going through the effort of writing a piece for the local paper. Painting a picture of twisted history.

    I think I’m done here.
Thanks for all the positive interactions for those who have done so.

That isn't how websites work. Unless you are upgrading the server which might take a few hours off line, normally pages are revised behind the scenes and then just uploaded when ready. That is normally seamless to the user. No normal business has it's website down for weeks. And when I Google the railway, it tells me it is temporarily closed. So there is no way of encouraging visitors at the moment.

You don’t have a dilemma. Unfortunately, there is no slander in posting something which is factual. I don’t know the ins and outs as to what the failure is to submit accounts, but that particular failure is recorded on the companies house website for anyone to view, you can see for yourself - https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/01149600/filing-history

This clearly shows that the last accounts were for the year 2020 (5 years ago) and were posted in 2022 (late). Basically, there are no accounts for the last 5 years which is a serious thing and there in black or white. By stating this that is not a libellous comment in any context, simply stating the presented facts. I think it’s justified to ask you, what is the position here, especially given the power to operate lies with the company, should that fail or be struck off then what happens as the railway will have to cease operations?

Again that isn’t slander as you like to put it but based on facts which are all in the public domain.

I am sympathetic to the false reviews etc but that is nothing to do with anything posted on this forum, only the actions here by a member would lead to any action on our part such as potential posting sanctions.

It’s possible that due to a lack of technical knowledge the website has been taken offline for updates, although as you say there are other more seamless ways.

On the subject of encouraging visitors, it does seem difficult to see a reason to visit - no website, Google saying it’s closed and the last Facebook updates were Easter opening. Since then nothing anywhere about future opening dates, as you say it doesn’t encourage anyone to visit.

The only criticisms that I can recall seeing in this thread are criticisms of how the current management is meeting (or not meeting) its legal responsibilities. Someone who actually wishes the railway to fail would be delighted that the company is in danger of being struck off. Someone who wishes the railway to succeed might draw attention to the management's failings in the hope of improvement.

I think if you stuck to your own policy commitment, posted here in 2020, you might find a much warmer response from most people here. We like to hear good news of progress from all railways, and also tend to react with sympathy when something goes wrong beyond a railway’s immediate control.

However if the company continues its failure (now, not in the past) to fulfil its public duty to file accounts & returns with Companies House you can’t really blame us for worrying about the potential consequences.

Point taken about negativity, but I suggest that you take as a feedback point from neutral observers that if the company complied with its legal duties and kept the website (even an FB link) up, it would take much of the oxygen away from those other complaints.

not quite sure what it is about a quiet corner of south west wales that garners such a strange thread as this with neither of the parties willing to offer much more than attack and counter . Maybe time to close the thread and add Teifi to the s********h category of lines no longer mentioned

TVR volunteer, I respectfully suggest that you ease back and forget what's in the past, it helps none of us. Your railway will benefit from you being here if you simply stick to the facts of the here, now and the future. People may try to drag up from the past, but if you really want to be involved, just tell us what's going on, what work is taking place, when we can visit and what to look forward to our support in the future. Leave the defensive posts behind.

Sadly from many years looking in on heritage volunteer organisations its a illness that infects way too many of them, they seem to often turn into personal fiefdoms and any criticism/new blood/change is often fiercely attacked... whilst moaning that new people are not getting involved. No idea if its the case in this example, so not casting any accusations, just an observation of too many years watching people who claim to have the same core objectives pointlessly bickering with each other.

TBF a piece of advice that could/should also be directed to the other party in this unsightly spat.... takes two to tango and all that.

    @TVR Volunteer

Snailbeach was a scheme that was discussed with some enthusiasm until those involved turned on any form of discussion and we vowed never to mention the place again . I'm getting to that point with Teifi which is a shame as it should be a rather lovely scheme

As you point out new websites/upgrades should be able to be prepared without taking existing stuff off line, and only when ready to swap over, might a few minutes disruption result. However, sadly, TVR are not the only organisation that takes their website offline for lengthy periods while doing 'routine maintenance' / upgrades (I first noticed it offline on 13 May, so it's been a while).

The error message just says it's been disabled. Doesn't say it's down for maintenance. As was said upthread, it's more likely that the bill hasn't been paid.

The lady in question has indeed left a bad review on trip adviser- in 2022.She left a one star rating and the comment-"The Railway is STILL advertising itself as a STEAM railway when it has no steam engines. As well as being a lie, this leads to disappointment for visitors." Which was true, in so far as the only steam locomotives had been non-operational for several years.
Which was not a slander, it was, and still is, I understand, true. And truth is not slander.
My own experience as a member certainly made me inclined to believe that the current management don't seem to have the requisite skills/time/inclination to get the job done.
