That might be true; however, because the Saint was connected to a large organisation (the GWS) with a stable base and engineering function, you felt it was only a matter of time before it would get done. 35011 doesn't have that stability; given the amount they are raising, you get the sense they are spending a considerable amount of their yearly income to keep transporting a set of frames around Southern England ...

There is a chicken and egg situation here: without a significant income and track record, it is hard to imagine any of the major railways or engineering centres wishing to play host to the project. But without that stability, it is hard to demonstrate the credibility that might unlock a greater number of donors or significant grants. Ultimately something has to change: it can't run as a £10k per year project.

Never heard a Bullied tender labelled high Capacity before , although the balance between coal and water is more appropriate to todays needs than most and the 5 Tonne coal capacity doesnt seem to be an issue; I am sure that someone on here can point out how many of the 6,000 gal MN and 5500 gal WC/BB tenders have survived

The thing with Bulleid's in preservation is that many of their tenders are not as originally built. Tanks have been replaced and some 'hybridised' as well as many new-build.

As far as I know, there are two Merchant Navy's that have 6000g tenders. 35018 has tender 3343 which was purchased with 34105 then used for 35018 in preservation. 35027 has a 6000g tender 3348 which came from 35005 post withdrawal. 35009/010/011/022 have no tender atm although 35010 has the tank from 5000g 3116. The frames from 3116 with new tank of 5250g are currently paired with 35005 but have in preservation been paired with others.

The whole story about MN /BB/ WC tenders is worth telling in its own right, many came out of Barry minus tenders, or with whatever was available, Most upon arriving at the scrap yard lost their tenders, because many were sold to steel works as ingot carriers, later these became obsolete, and I believe a few chassis were found and purchased from steelworks, Many have now had new tanks made and fitted, so some carry different patterns of tank, in addition SLL have had new tender frames and wheels made for its collection of engines.

I'm sure you're right although I had 34067 running with tender 3130 - that now being a 5500g "hybrid" - which may just mean a 5500gal adjusted at tank replacement to carry 6000gal? I agree that 35028 is a 6000g (3342) but adjusted to carry 5750gal.

The loss was due to having to accommodate the air pump. The shape of the coal space was changed making it look like a 5500 gal tender but the wheelbase is slightly wrong. You maybe right about 34067, I read about it being a 6000 gal tender but that could have been wrong
