I have added a couple of new photos of Gresley's D49/2 Hunt class in the BR era, including yet another Thompson botch-up of a Gresley design
No. 365 (BR 62768) The Morpeth was still in the works after a minor mishap in 1941, and it was chosen as the first rebuild to Class D. The rebuild kept the same boiler, but the three cylinder design was replaced by two inside cylinders following a pattern similar to the D11 4-4-0 'Improved Director' locomotives. Stephenson motion was used to operate piston valves.
