Anyone got more info on the timings of this one? Or knowledge of the times of the local juice trains.

38 minutes for the 26 miles from Tonbridge (pass) to Ashford (pass) indicates a stop somewhere. Any ideas?

Just checked the service timetable - there is a slowish stopping service train just in front of it

Thanks. Maybe it is a just booked to creep along behind that! Makes choosing where to photo it quite hard.

Anyone know what to do in Canterbury for 4 1/2 hours? Seem to remember finding it hard enough to stay amused for an afternoon on a weekday last visit.

The cathedral shop sells an excellent blackcurrant rum but don't really want to sit and drink that all day, rather take it home!

Go and find a nice pub and have a few pints of Spitfire or Master Brew.

Was at the right place at the right time! Not for the photo, which is plain ordinary with the hazy clag blowing down over the train. But for the wonderful spectacle of Tangy roaring through Paddock Wood at circa 75 mph on a 13 car train. Must have been close to 500 tons gross.

I was so taken by the sight and sound I almost forgot to take the photos! She was making a truly wonderful noise.

A friend was timing it, so will get the exact speed later.

So much for my prophesy that the train would creep along behind the local on that stretch.

She sounded good at Chelsfield but typically the sun went in
just before she came through. Looking forward to hearing
her on Sole Street bank later.

Nice shot, I was also at that footbridge at Paddock Wood. I was standing nearer to the steps.

My photo of Tangmere @ http://craigrailpics.fotopic.net/p58934335.html

    And a video @ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AegB35DR ... annel_page

Lovely video! Were you at the top of Sole Street bank tonight? Superb noise topping the climb with circa 13 500 tons! I almost missed the photo as I was transfixed by the sight of "Tangy" roaring around the corner. By my watch I heard the roar before 20.00, and she came past just after 20.03!

Still waiting for info from a friend who timed it. Did you time it as well? Would love to know some details. Drool!

Comment from my timer friend on board yesterday, a hardened timer with a lifetime of timing good steam runs, "I'll have to lie down in a darkened room to recover after this!"

76 mph through Paddock Wood, as estimated from the lineside.

But the climb of Sole Street was the incredible highlight of the day. 39 mph over the top after 42 mph on the climb. No wonder I could hear Tangy from so far off! A superlative effort.
