Maybe an old plan as I understand from a steward on the tour yesterday it is due for a boiler washout at the NVR which is difficult or cannot be done at Southall.

Don’t know NR’s status but 8 miles to the east the sky was certainly black and it was bucketing down at the time SNG passed through Leyland. Overnight rain followed by 6+ hours of steady/heavy rain today.:)

45212 5Z42 terminated at Crewe. ''This service was cancelled between Crewe and Southall Wcr due to the train operator's request''.

Possibly meaning that the West Somerset Express on Saturday will be diesel hauled? <BJ>

Shown as, "This service was cancelled between Crewe and Southall Wcr due to the train operator's request (TB)".

Edit: Oops, free2grice beat me to it!

Please get it right, Scotsman was in steam and therefore not 'dragged'.

Was in very light steam to keep the oil going, and as I understand was given a special exemption to come through Black Fire risk areas, and did no work. So technically it was dragged

So whilst agreeing it is good that it has reached the SVR it seems we have one set of rules for FS, and different set for everything thing else.
Maybe Black is the new Grey:confused:

Or a risk assessment process has been gone through that shows a particular method of working is acceptable? After all, haulage of a light engine in light steam is about as low risk as it can get, and if the crews are instructed to operate in a low risk way

...and provided that they are in control of the fire etc. Was there not something recently when a loco was hauled in steam on the national network yet it still managed to lose some fire out of the ashpan that set alight a bit of infrastructure?
    Steam engines are steam engines.....

I don’t think it has, I sent that message last week which was it’s move down to Southall for the tour to York last Saturday.
