Have you tried ringing them? They may not know, but you could ask why your e-mails have not been answered.

Believe there's a vintage bus link planned from Q&W to the Soar Valley Model Railway Club's show in Loughborough on the Saturday and from Leicester North to Abbey Pumping Station's railway day on the Sunday. Not aware of a link between the stations at Loughborough, but I could be wrong!

Anyone able to confirm which way the steam are facing? Most recent photos I can find show the Austerity facing North, everything else South. Thanks.

Well that’s a complete waste of time, why can’t they cater for people coming in by train and not pander to car owners??

I thought buses only ever ran at their big galas and then not every day.

I don't see how they're pandering to car owners - they're providing a free link between neighbouring attractions that wouldn't be possible by public transport.

Don't forget - the bus shuttles between the stations in Loughborough are provided by the Leicester Transport Heritage Trust, so not directly by the GCR.
As another voluntary organisation - particularly in the middle of the August holiday period - they might not have drivers available to provide a service on the dates of this particular event. Our Museum in Ipswich gets a number of "can you provide a vehicle for...." requests, but at the end of the day, it's down to someone being available to volunteer to drive the thing ....

As it stands that’s correct, and I can’t see anything in the operating notes for the next week that suggests there are plans to turn any - but of course that doesn’t mean that the shed/ops department won’t do so if they desire.

There are usually taxis waiting outside Loughborough Midland station, so getting one to Loughborough Central station is not usually a problem. However, from past experience, getting one back was more of an issue. I have the number "01509 230230" in my phone under "Taxi - Loughborough", so I guess that is the company I have used. A few times I rang for a taxi back to Midland station, but they said there were none available, so we had to walk back only to find a number of taxis with that number sat at the station, so I suspect they did not want to be bothered with such a short journey. You may be OK if you try to book them in advance (I never wanted to do that because I'm afraid timekeeping is not one of the GCR's good points, particularly at galas).

There will be "Boscastle Shed Tours" on both days of this event. From 10.30 to 3.30 at regular intervals, just walk up to the shed. They are free but a donation towards Boscastle's overhaul is appreciated. The guided tours last around 30 mins.

I know some have negative opinions of them, but I've used Uber for Loughborough Central -> Midland before and they've been readily available.
