Hopefully the whole rake isn't sidelined for investigation.

They will be checked as per our procedures. 25498 will most likely miss ASG. The other 5 in the set will probably be lifted to check all centre castings and buckeyes.

25498 wasn’t planned for use anyway luckily!

Communication was lost between the guard and driver for reasons that are not entirely clear. Unsurprisingly, the guard was quite shaken up. RAIB have been notified.

Really ? I would be horrified if the entire set was not investigated

Excellent video here showing some of the work involved in extricating and re-railing the coach:

Very glad to hear that no one was injured and bearing in mind the year the SVR has had so far I do hope repairs aren't too time consuming or expensive.

I hope not but given the time taken to sort out one of the sets on the North York Moors after a " rough shunt" I wouldn't hold your breath. We now operate in a tick box world. Everything has to be inspected, tested and documented.

I see this Saturday the SVR are intending to run a 6-coach DMU (i.e. 3+3)**, and I idly wondered how much fuel this would consume compared to a "typical" diesel loco hauling 6 coaches.

BTW The traffic notice says the DMU service is 6 coaches "due to recent loading" but as it also says rain is expected and steam will fully return, plus Saturday itself will be wet, I'm not convinced that 6 coaches will actually be justified!

** 12:30 departure from Kidderminster, 13:45 from Bridgnorth

Edit: I thoroughly enjoyed my ride on the DMU (on Saturday 30th August), got the front seat to Bridgnorth and the same, now rear, seat on the way back. Superb view as usual with a heritage DMU, getting an entirely new perspective on the line compared to normal hauled coaching stock. The front unit (i.e. front from Kidderminster to Bridgnorth) was fairly busy, I forgot to check out the rear unit so I couldn't say if 2x3 coaches was really justified.

I intend to repeat the experience soon but this time starting at the rear from Kidderminster so I'm facing forward on the way back, to get another perspective.

My only complaint is that the turnaround time at Bridgnorth is so short for this DMU service that there's no time to nip in the pub and get a takeout pint for the return journey. :)

Will the new signalling scheme at KR be completed and commissioned for the ASG?

P1 side should be operational by the end of next week. SnT reckoned the first pull should be on or about the 11th.

A bit of a query for anybody knowledgeable in SVR matters.

I was thinking of catching the 10:15 departure from Kidderminster on Sat 25th October.
However I notice on the calendar it lists a breakfast dining experience at 10:15.
So does that mean that this train will be for use only by the diners, or will there also be coaches for regular punters?

It's a normal service train with one dining carriage and one kitchen added.
