Clue for the second loco is that is a loco class that has never visited Wales.

EDIT: The post has changed to never steamed in Wales.

    Latest clue on Facebook:
In 1964 Dr Beeching played a role in saving this locomotive.

Given how yesterdays clue was slightly changed, I'm thinking Fenchurch.

I saw that. Someone must have realised one lived at Pwllheli for a few years.

Ironically, I suspect Dr Beeching indirectly played a role in saving a lot of locos. Had he not closed the lines, many heritage railways would not exist and have no need for locos.

Fenchurch from the Bluebell Railway announced

[IMG] LBSCR Terrier No. 72 ‘Fenchurch’ confirmed for this years Steam Gala! [IMG]
We are delighted to announce Fenchurch will be visiting us this September, courtesy of theBluebell Railway.
The locomotive is 153 years old, having been built in 1872 at Brighton Works. Originally built for the London, Brighton & South Coast Railway it worked out of London Bridge and London Victoria on suburban services. In its first seven years of service the engine had already clocked up a whopping 279,000 miles.
The locomotive worked for the Newhaven Harbour Company from 1898. In May 1963 the locomotive was transferred to Eastleigh but in fact it went to Fratton to supplement the other A1X class engines, working the Hayling Island branch. The Branch closed in November and the all of the members of the class were withdrawn from service.
Following withdrawal from service it was sold to the Bluebell Railway for £750. It has lived at the Bluebell since and has had many overhauls undertaken.
We believe this will be the first Terrier to ever steam in Wales, making its visit somewhat significant! It is also one of the oldest operational locomotives in Britain.
It is planned to haul smaller services and demonstration freight workings over the duration of the three day event. We are very grateful to the Bluebell Railway for allowing us to hire this iconic locomotive.
Fenchurch joins visiting locomotives Hunslet ‘Newstead’ and Hudswell Clarke No.1208 ‘Illingworth’, all working alongside another two home fleet locomotives. We hope to also have some of our out of service locomotives on display.

Timetables are now up. Always a good event this, with the gradients making entertaining running mandatory! Platform 2 at High level will be in use for the first time too so unlike previous galas there will two passenger sets running the whole line. ANNUAL STEAM GALA | Blaenavon Railway
