Talyllyn Railway Diamond Jubilee gala - 15-17 May 2026

As announced at the society's AGM yesterday and on their YouTube channel and socials shortly after, next May the railway will be marking the 75th anniversary of the first volunteer run heritage train anywhere in the world with a three day gala.

Set to the theme of "Talyllyn's Greatest Hits", we will be recreating some of the special trains and key moments of the post preservation years of the railway. Furthermore, overnight running will take place for the first time in 11 years to take you from the Saturday into the Sunday.

More details to follow in due course but it promises to be one not to be missed.

It should also be noted that this also marks the anniversary of the start of the heritage railway movement and I hope we will see other lines join in to celebrate 75 years of preserved railways.

 

Just to avoid confusion on the thread title, I thought the announcement was Fri 15-Sun 17, rather than 18th?

Either way, accommodation booked and I'm very much looking forward to it. Not done a TR gala before as we usually aim for the FR events when holidaying in Wales.
