Have you both seen the most recent comment here? Found whilst acquainting myself with what 34073 is/was:

It was very much true. I remember the Carnforth colour show in 1968. Also, the KWVR and 5596 Bahamas being painted in LMS red after overhaul at Hunslets in early 1968.

The equivalent of 4800 tins! I know at the time we all had the vision of a painter with a 1/4 in brush and a pile of little tins of paint. A shame that they didn’t get the colour correct!

News from the Bury Standard 4 Group Facebook shows 80097 undertaking some test runs following a successful steam test.

My reply to that is many components got swapped round between locos at overhaul. 34081 had quite a few WC numbered parts when we stripped her. The acid test would have been the cab. 8’6” cab and it’s not ‘73. 9’ cab and it’s not ’54.

Edit - Just looked at a picture of ’73 in Barry and it’s got a 9’ cab. That almost certainly rules out it being ’54 in disguise IMO.

Whilst great to see it back in traffic you have to wonder how long it will be before it is stopped for new tyres, they are like rubber bands!

I was on that charter, we were very lucky with the weather considering how the day started.

Some of my results from Richard Newton's charter on Monday, worth breaking the journey home from Scotland for this.

Thanks John, better weather than most of the time in Scotland if you look at the Jacobite 2025 thread!

Meh! I looked and was similarly impressed...you always produce quality work, regardless of the weather!
