I have unexpectedly become available on Thursday due to a change in my work commitments. If anyone has a spare seat, please let me know, and I would of course pay the full ticket price. Please send me a PM.

Yes like yourself I hate a box anywhere on a steam trip .I remember when I worked out of Barton Hill one very hot summer we were all hoping we would be able to go out with just the king in charge but no traction inspector came and said sorry the box is on the front today it not the same going along the sea wall at Dawlish with a box on the formation. Fingers crossed the Duke will be box free if in fact it runs after this morning derailment .

Shame the empties can't pick up at Milton Keynes for those of us wanting to do the 40 out of Euston!

Well, the ECS is still showing as booked into P16 at 06.36 so we assume that all is set and hopefully the actual charter times will appear in the next 24 hours, assuming that NR is happy for the trip to run over Shap.

I suspect that Network Rail are delaying uploading the schedules to and from Carlisle to see if the line over Shap reopens on Wednesday and what restrictions will apply. In the background I am sure that LSL will have prepared a VSTP path going somewhere else based around the planned times at Crewe and Warrington BQ ready to be input by NR route control. (VSTP very short term plan , under control arrangements on old terminology.)
    Cheers, Neil

Going to make for a fun few minutes on arrival at Carlisle, with a train load of enthusiasts wanting to get a photo of the loco before it leaves (myself included) Arrival at 14:20 and departure to Upperby at 14:27

Will be interesting to see if there's a TSR in place for Thursday especially in the down direction. Hopefully it won't be too intrusive, anything lower than 30mph could spoil the climb. Just to add, I'm grateful for the efforts by NR to get us in the position where travel is still be possible.

The WCML is gradually reopening. Both 4M48 and 4M11 are heading south at present through the Penrith area (21:25). <BJ>

Nothing obvious judging by the train running this morning.

No tsrs showing on the Trainslive website for the Shap area and the first few southbounds don't seem to have lost time in the area

We'll be pleased to know that it's no longer such an in and out on arrival at Carlisle, all being well we'll arrive at 14:20 and the ECS now leaves at 14:37, so hopefully enough time to get a picture or two!
