Hi there, i was wondering whether anybody knew what was running this weekend June 27th and 28th at the ELR as i am up their the weekend as i am taking the missus to see a boyband whom i shall not mention as the little respect i have will be no more. I know 33109 is doing the diesel turn but i was wondering if anyone knew what the two steam turns were as it would be great if the jinty were running, regards Martyn.

The Jinty will definitely be out and the S160 will also be out, subject to availability but there the only two locos in traffic at the moment.
Apart from 32 and May but they don't get used for passenger service :(

32 used to operate the ELR's passenger service with considerable pride !
I have pictures of it with 6 and 7 on (whilst I accept this isnt good for the long term).
There were times when 32 was the ONLY engine the ELR had..
Give it 4 coaches it'll run a Rawtenstall service just fine !

I would love 32 to be used but all the years of going round the country as Thomas has took it toll on the poor thing the bottom end is in a very poor way and the Lancs wont spend any money on it :smt102 . Its not completely unloved though there are a few of us at the Lancs who look after it the best we can with out much money to spend on it.

Is 32 owned by the ELR ?
Ive a few fond memories of this engine before their was a railway to run it.
It definitely used to be quite happy to steam.. and had an ability to punch well above it's weight !
I guess it's coming up on its ticket soon then ?

Trvia: 32 could claim to be a psuedo-mainline industrial, when back in the early 1990's it went with a brake van down to Cheetham Hill on the Bury line to a metrolink open day, "psuedo..being the line had been handed over to Metrolink".. but non the less it's still a commuterline of sorts today.

Yeah the ELR own 32, it has 9 and a bit years left on its ticket as it had a boiler overhaul last summer, but its only had something like 20 steaming since then. It was used at the war weekend on the fright service but hasn't worked since then.
