Aren't there some reliability issues with the mainline 37s on railtours at the moment? If that's the reason for the loco change, it's interesting that a preserved loco is seen to be more reliable than a mainline loco!

37's are brilliant reliable machines, the loco's failing are the DBS examples of which the maintenence of is nothing short of disgracefull, consisting of storing loco's in the open for years, swapping parts from one knackered example to another to get a runner, getting it fired up for a total of a fiver and then wondering why it fails ](*,)

Mainline 37's are wonderfull machines if in DRS Blue or WCRC Maroon.

There is some confusion here. There are two railtours to Penzance this Saturday. One if a Spitfire tour from Birmingham which will feature Direct Rail Services class 37s. The other is a Pathfinder tour from Portsmouth Harbour which was due to be 37401 and 37670, it is now 37401 and 40145

Two DRS 37's arrived on Tyseley carriage sidings this afternoon, so I guess these will be the ones for the tour from B'ham.
I didn't see their numbers......too busy helping to move steam engines about, to do any train spotting. ;-)

Sure it's not a test train working ?, unusual to have tour loco's in position that early.

Sorry for the misinformation Bill, but as I said I was busy at the time and just happened to glimpse the Growlers and missed the bits between them. #-o #-o

I've received a message to say that the traction situation is still fluid.
It may result in the tour being hauled by a class 37 and class 40 double headed. <BJ>
