Hmmm. Looks as if it could do with a repaint after it's recent boiler work. Few marks and scratches on the green paint on the cladding. Green touch ups will be too noticeable. Lets just paint it all over black!!!!! Everyones happy! \:D/

Yeah and with the large early BR logo this time to be; a) different to the livery carried by 3802 in 2007, and b) to represent early BR black on a Ex-GWR 2-8-0 (not incuding the tank engine equivalents) for the first time since the late 50s!

To be fair we've only had one of our GWR home fleet in BR Black, and that was 7754.

So it might be a good time for a change!

If you're building something in Corwen your first purchases should be some 12 foot perimeter fencing- preferably electrified, with a couple of rotties as back - up.
The most exciting thing to do in Corwen is to stand in the main street & watch the pedestrian crossing lights changing.
The Germans bombed Corwen in WW2 & did 10 shillings worth of damage.

To see two newbuilds at different stages of completion just across the way from each other, that's a real feather in the cap for you engineers at Llangollen and could raise your profile significantly. Many congratulations. I hope that the owners' fundraising continues to be a success or even accelerates, and you'll be able to show off at least one of the locos on rails at a gala next year, whether or not you can actually steam it (who knows?).

No Ian, two lumps of profile -cut steel are sitting in Llangollen shed. When you see the boiler being piped up then it will be a real engine.Remember how long 'Tornado ' took with a professional team ,both engineering & Marketing, behind it. It's at least ten years behind the 'Grange'

Those "Patriot" frames look massive. Anyone from Llan. say how long they are?

    Thanks

This is quite an event. The Patriot may be 10 years behind the Grange at present but the Patriot has a USP that the Grange does not; its name. It's a bittersweet USP, especially for someone like myself who is serving in the military, but its a USP nevertheless - this is a potential national memorial locomotive and I am pretty sure that it will progress quite quickly because of this. The Patriot deserves a very speedy birth so that it will represent our fallen comrades down the years. I think you might find that the Patriot outstrips the Grange because of this - I hope so. Blimey, and I'm a GWR fan!

Well it's three newbuilds next to each other. On the next road of the shed, in line with the grange and patriot, is the railmotor boiler / bogie unit.

That aswell as it being the only LMS new build on the go at the moment, so effectively it is attracting a whole market of enthusiasts.
