Any news on the return of 101685 to traffic, which would negate the reason to keep hiring the AutoCar

    45 minutes from Newcastle.
45 minutes from York, an hour from Leeds.
Loads of disposable income in the Ripon Harrogate corridor.
Should, and deserves to be a success for all involved.

If you'd seen the details of the trailer, you'd know that they did work in the area and are undeniably authentic.

I do not know the situation on the NYMR, but I cannot remember any line I have visited post Xmas having particularly well loaded trains.

I know KWVR, Tanfield and Wensleydale post Christmas "mince pie specials" have been well supported during visits.

SVR post Christmas can be quite busy. Even Boxing Day when not much else is open (double edge sword as the SVR is something to do but there's not much else).

Usually quite busy on GWSR too, general feeling is people want to get out the house and have something to do - and a steam heated train ride is a good fairly weatherproof option.

More authentic at the NYMR than their usual home!

Not a reply but a thought for the legal beagles. NYMR have now made Grosmont webcam and others pay per view so they are getting income from the images they sell. In these webcams there are images of people that can be recognised so as their images are being sold for commercial gain I believe that the seller ie NYMR needs to have written consent from each individual prior to their image being sold. From previous posts @lineclear may have a view on this

But a lot of Railcam images are available only. Not sure all those random passengers have been asked.
Are you a Northern employee? They were the only ones who seemed to get their knickers in a twist about webcams.
Anyway we are the most watched society in the world.

The question @Y.ddraig.Gymreig is asking is are the NYMR allowed to charge for access for to cameras where the public are clearly identifiable. Plenty of the Railcam cameras are on stations on preserved lines, but they're free to view. The paid for ones are at the lineside, away from the public. CCTV is fine, free livestreaming appears to be ok as well; it's the charging element that makes it a bit suspect.

I’ve never found a problem TTIing the Autocar and its trailer when it previously operated on the NYMR, even when I was booked solo; I’d simply ticket check the trailer compartments whilst at the stations then onboard board the Autocar between. I also found the Autocar nice and warm during the February half term, and often warmer than the MK1 operated services. As for toilets, passengers were usually warned before boarding about the lack of toilet facilities, but I sometimes noted the odd longer than scheduled stop at intermediate stations for occasional “desperate” passenger. I wonder how the Big Railway manages when it operates trains without toilets. Overall I think the NYMR should be applauded for running the Autocar service as an addition to the usual Christmas holiday Whitby Excursion.

Pretty certain permission is not needed for the NYMR to take photos or videos on their property and to do what they wish with them as long as they are not specifically targeting individuals and that includes children. Seemingly you technically need permission to take photos on private property so it would be a visitor taking a photo that actually needs permission.

I suppose it means ensuring the cameras face away from public rights of way, but notifying others that they might be filmed whilst on or about the railway (not dissimilar to the notices when TV companies are filming). Ps how does YouTube manage when I watch other train related videos as I do pay a subscription (for no adverts) to watch: It is not just a heritage railway related issue in that case.

Ps the only problem I’ve had with the Grosmont camera was with my wife watching me when I was on the platform there recently, and then texting me to tell me to zip up my railway jacket as I was showing the “wrong colour jumper” underneath, which I did (as instructed) before receiving a subsequent text to say “that’s better”.

What’s the wrong colour, though? A 64,000 dollar question. Me personally, I’m wearing a blue & grey one.

We visited the NYMR around New Year last year and went on the service between Pickering and Whitby, it was pretty packed.

Well TFL seem to think they can run Reading to Abbey Wood about every 15 minutes at just under 90 minutes without onboard toilets, I do not see Grosmont to Goathland causing too many issues.
