Seems like the normal train service is the class 33 today?!?!

Cant remember if it was advertised as a steam service?

U being steamed on shed when I came past, guess there must be an issue with the T3, which was on the shed yesterday and is now in the sidings next to the DMU.

Old stuff has issues, as does modern rubbish it seems when ever I travel anywhere on the national network.

A selection of images from yesterday afternoon when the weather had improved on earlier.
Manston passing a very autumnal, rather than winter looking, Harmans Cross.
U class 31806 calling at Herston, which was a surprise as it is not shown as a call in the public timetable, but two dogs along with their respective human staff alighted.
Manston drifting past the new mini lake in St. Georges Field (which today is twice the size it seems when I opened the blinds this morning). Hidden behind Manston is the newly outshopped support coach for Eddystone.

Anyone know what is happening on Friday 19th? I assume a set is not being lit up for just 5 trips.

Strange with 3 trains only stopping at Herston, and then only on the return.

I would have normally emailed Martin, but of course I no longer have that option.

There’s a special service running for the Corfe Castle lights that day. It’s currently booked for one of the Cromptons.

The first 4 up trips stop and last 3 down trips stop at Herston. Not sure why the up services aren’t shown as stopping, but they’re definitely timed to stop. The first down and last up services also skip Harmans Cross.

The same service is also running for the lights on Saturday 13th, which is currently allocated the T3.

Just for clarification. This is for the National Trust carol service at Corfe, not the railways carol service at Corfe Station which is steam hauled on the 11/18th.

Had lots of fun shunting today.
Extrapolating a Southern 12 ton box van from Norden, ready for use for the mixed traffic set, winter warm up.
Other things in the diagram was carriage washing the Santa stock and re arranging Corfe.
I took some photo's of daffodils and crocus at Harmans with the Crompton behind and blue sky.
Some how they did not appear in my gallery, so you must take my word for it.
These are the days of volunteering that are different to the norm and make it special.
    If you know, you know

Looks as if 34028 will face Swanage, when it arrives tomorrow (Saturday night) as it is routed from Salisbury via Chandlersford and then straight down the Mainline from Eastleigh to Swanage.
    Sounds Interesting Steve.
I see that 34028 is routed from Salisbury to Swanage via Chandlersford thence straight down the mainline, which means she will be facing Swanage.
Will look out for the daffodils and crocus as I am at Harmans Cross tomorrow.

Swanage Railway seems to be more subtle in it's message: "Entry to the exhibition train is included within your Swanage Railway travel ticket - simply hop on one of our services and make your way to Corfe Castle to enjoy it.". The small number of residents in Corfe village, and the volume [lack of] of tourists in February, possibly meant the idea of a nominal £1 donation by non-travellers was not considered/discussed - although that is my speculation of course. Perhaps it is not too late for it's management to think about introducing 'platform tickets' during the three day event.

Bit awkward as I believe it is a public right of way, hence why the side gate and barrow crossing gates are opened at end of service.

The winter warm up timetable is out!

It’s 2 trains sets at 1 tph the full length which is the same as previous galas however the 3rd Swanage to Corfe shuttle is now 2-hourly instead of hourly which should keep the timetable on time. As the shuttle being hourly messes up everything

The shuttle not running hourly is more to do with the fact that services aren’t booked to pass at Harmans Cross rather than it “messes up everything”.

The timetables themselves have no issues, it’s factors on the day which cause late running - for example overcrowding on trains/platforms and failures. These can’t really be accounted for when writing a timetable.

It is? The events and experiences site still show it as "Coming soon" Is there a link somewhere else please?
From the advert "The event timetable will be released soon, along with locomotive allocations to help you plan your day out travelling with us. Two passenger services will be in use, alongside a 3rd service which will be formed of a mixture of coaches and other non-passenger stock, forming the "Corfe Shuttle"

It’s currently available on HOPS and Facebook. I uploaded a PDF version in the Winter Warm Up Thread, which is in the Galas and Events section of the forum, but I will also attach it here.
