71000 appears out of the mist at the D'oly Carte themed Denham Golf Club station

 

It's on the market and open to bookings so, given the cost especially, it's perfectly reasonable in my opinion to discuss it at this time.

 

Let's hope it's this one, it would make sense for it to be.

 

I don't think anyone else does either, Harry. I personally think it's good to discuss things early as it can help people make their decision as to whether or not they wish to book this trip or any others for that matter.

Better coal and water capacity for such a long trip. Makes absolute sense really.

 

Also seeing 71000 for the first time running beside the Dawlish Seawall since returning to steam will be a wonderful sight.

I'm sure aside from the K&WVR Gala 5029 will be rostered for many mainline trips next year, probably will be working the lions share of the English Riviera Express' again I would assume.

Clun Castle as do all other locos around her size have more than enough coal and water capacity for such a trip given that multiple stops for both are unavoidable.

You’ve totally ignored what I said. It has better capacity. Ie more capacity. Ie can get further without the need to stop. Not sure how else you want me to put it.

 

I haven’t, but what you’re saying doesn’t have an affect on the usability of a Nunney Castle on this trip.

It still has to stop a set amount of times in set places, the overall water capacity makes little difference providing that it has enough to get from regular stop location to regular stop location.

 

It does have an affect due to things like length of day, number of pathing stops/water stops, etc. 71000 is nearly 2000 Gallons better off than 5029.

It’s a 12 hour day for the passengers with 71000 at the head from Taunton. Another water stop for 5029 would be pushing 13 hours. Then you’ve got crew, etc to consider, and how the stops affect that.

But don’t believe me, believe the horses mouth. My LSL chaps tell me 71000 was picked for its range and capacity.
