Can't imagine its in worse condition than anything else awaiting their turn in the queue. Hagley Hall was no small job.

4930 was only in traffic for just over 7 years, so even less than 7325. Both have spent the majority of their time stored undercover as well I believe? At least they won't be as rotten as 75069 and 43106.

4930 spent a fair old bit of time outside, I’m pretty sure 7325/9303 has/will become a beneficiary of being stored undercover at Swindon then Highley.

Good news on two levels. First, that the prospect of the return to steam of a popular, economical and historically appropriate loco for the line moves a step closer. Secondly, that the railway considers itself to be in an improved position to once again be looking at recommencing overhauls.

4930 spent a good 20 years sat in the headshunt at Bridgnorth with virtually no protection. The same applies to 75069 which sat next to the machine ship, again with no protection. The big mistake was not removing the cladding and insulation, which acted like a sponge and rotted the boiler barrels.

7325, spent only a small amount of time outside before going into Swindon shopping centre and when the Engine House opened in 07, it was moved in. It has then spent the remaining time stored in the carriage shed.

At the moment it is only going to Bridgnorth for assessment. Nothing more.

No I agree. And I never said it was going to be.

You’re quite right we are asking for £275,000 to cover the quoted cost, and then probably £50k on top of that.

But a boiler crisis engine, with mainline usage, which hasn’t necessarily had much of its BR parts replaced is a different kettle of fish quite often.

I love 7325 so I hope it’s a job that’s well within the possibilities and it gets done.

7812 was back in passenger service on the WSR today & 7802 just awaits the refitting of pistons & cylinder covers to return it to SVR service.
