    Hi,

With the large number of Cl.50s preserved/stored are there enough spare power units and main generators around in case of catastrophic failure

There was a complete spare Power Unit/Gen at Crewe Heritage for some years, it was destined for 50008(?) but was subsequently sold to the RRRG at Peak Rail for one of their locos (If I remember correctly?)
The EE 16 (C) SVT block is not uncommon in its various forms. I would have thought that a major gen failure would be better rectified by a rewind/rework than going for an secondhand spare?
