Some people dont have the stamina! (He says gradually nodding off!)

Well all in all a great weekend! Shame about 63601 but it only missed running one day out of the 3. The mainline trains were nicely loaded and the Jubilee was in fine style! The noise on the Ribblehead train was immense!

So 4 months of planning later...5 gala guards turns ... and a day playing on 80002 ... and about 3 hours sleep in 2 days I am one (of 3) very very very very happy gala organisers!!!!!!!!

    Kieran

P.s Keep the pics coming, its nice to see the bits and bats from various locations that I couldnt phot as was otherwise busy!

What a smashing weekend! One of the most enjoyable galas i've been too, but one very long one! I was up at half 3 on Friday morning and after returning from the pub with Kieran didn't get to bed till after half 12! Then was woken up by the shunting in the yard at 6:30 :| But was well worth it!

I must say thanks to Kieran for the driving, sorting the railway accomodation etc... Ralph, and all the crew on 957 for sorting the footplate access out and everyone else that helped us this weekend.

I've uploaded the rest of the gala footage which includes 2 or 3 shots from each day, the rest including the full coverage on board 957s footplate, on board 5690's support coach and on board the banked freight train are available on the DVD of which a DVD trailer is linked below.

    Thursday - Gala Prep
Friday - Inc 957 footplate ride etc...
Saturday - Inc 5690 on the mainline
    Sunday's Footage

Had a fantastic 2 days over there, arrived on shed at Haworth around 6.30am Friday morning, snapped everything on shed and those coming off then drove down to Ingrown to park the car for the day, took a trip down to Keighley, loads of action, a few freight movements with the Robinson 04 (the star attractions from the great central railway), and the WD austerity, walked up the tracks a bit and took everything leaving, later took a trip up to Oakworth and walked back to the crossover for a few hours, stopping at various spots, then walked into Damens and took a trip to Oxenhope and back to Ingrow to grab the tripod, for Keighley to catch Leander arriving she was on time at around 6.15pm along with the west coast rake and a 37 for the settle junction, Ribblehead runs on Saturday, hung around Keighley for a few hours then took the last train back to Ingrow to collect the car, drove back to the sheds at Haworth for a few evening shots, then drove over to Oxenhope and (chippie en route,) died in the car. Awoken by Oxenhope station staff around 7.00am Saturday morning, went off for breakfast and back to Ingrow to park the car up for the day, just caught Leander, standard 4 and lanky light engine through the station, the Robinson had failed Saturday morning, but the lads got her up and running again by lunchtime. Raided the doughnut stand at ASDAs and jumped the first train out to connect to the settle junction run behind the Leander, what a great trip it was too, had plenty of time to get off for shots at Skipton and Hellifield, arrived back at Keighley just before lunch, then another run up, the branch to Oakworth and a walk in the other directions towards the tunnel, a pleasant few hours trackside photographing everything that passed, then another walk down to Damiens stopped en route again for photographs, train for Damens to Oxenhope and back to Keighley, arrived at Keighley just before the Ribblehead trip was due our so took a local 333 set up to Skipton just in front of the special, arriving at Skipton for some great shots of the Leander arriving. Next was a run back to Keighley on the 333s and then a well deserved supper in Keighley, eventually picking up the returning Ribblehead up for the run back to Ingrow for the car and driving home, arrived back at 12.00midnight Saturday night, must have taken around 500 shots over the two days, the cost was reduced for members at £15 all branch rover for the Friday and £34 for the all line rover to Settle junction and the branch for Saturday, a long two 15 hour days,. But well worth it, even if I am knackered this morning. A big well done to the Worth valley and all the organisers and staff, well done guys.

I enjoyed the gala too, I've just got back to London! I have just looked at the KWVR website and I can't see a gala in the autumn. Is this to be expected?

That's right, no Autumn steam gala this year, the Summer gala replaces it but there is a beer festival!

Three almost perfect days, Pity about the 04 but managed to get some good pictures of her on the friday. Spent most of the day saturday following leander, finshed of the day at Ribbled head, while on sunday just bagged the first one while spending most of the day on the line.

63601 (also like to add a big thankyou to the person who jumped up on the buffer directly in front of me just after this shot, so spoiling the video footage!)

When it had its initial steam test it had problems with the super heaters, a KWVR Rescue (S&D engineering) fix sorted that as a temporary measure (best mention the S&D bit for Ralph!)

Then out Sat morning was declared failed with leaking flues as Chris says. It came out in the aft to see if it was a problem was livable with but it detiriated so was again failed
