The NYMR, listen to advice from outside? (That was probably the unstated subtext to your explicitly humourous post; just making it explicit.)

Actually, the NYMR's present management could probably do with some help in running any sort of appeal. It's successful ones were the product of earlier eras.

I'm sure a well known signalman at both establishments could carry the message if desired... :)

Assuming this is related to the NYMR bridge not ours, may be best off in that thread?

GWR Hawksworth inspection saloon 80975 has arrived at GWSR from Llangollen this week:

    IMG-20260217-WA0018.jpg

Soon to be available for all the usual private hire type things you might expect, just needs some light refurbishing and an operational methodology as it's obviously not something we've done before/not for a long time.

How much to hire on Gold Cup day?:)
I’m sure it will prove very popular with race goers.

As the Infrastructure Blog for some reason, really doesn't want me to log in to comment, I thought I'd post a message of congratulations here. The departments "Protect and Survive" model is very obviously one to look to for the rest of the sector. Many times, I've looked at the blog and thought "My God, you're being thorough!". Just goes to show, it's really the only way. Very, very well done.

After I worked out that you must have meant the Drainage blog, I checked, and it seems to be accepting comments from Blogger users - I posted something a few days ago.

    Special Historic Visitor Announcement!

We are delighted to announce that GWR Railcar No. W22 will be visiting the GWSR from April through to the end of May.

The railcar will operate on selected dates, which will be announced in due course. We can confirm, however, that it will be running between Toddington and Hayles Abbey Halt during our Vintage Weekend on 11–12 April. *Please note that a supplementary fare will apply for all travel on the railcar when in operation, booking in advance only via our website soon.

This historic railcar hasn’t visited the GWSR since the days when it worked along our route in Great Western Railway service, making this a very special return and a wonderful opportunity to recreate scenes from the past. These vehicles were first built for the GWR and constructed in the 1930s. They were the forerunners of the modern Diesel Multiple Units that operate many of the UK's commuter services today.

A huge thank you goes to the team at Great Western Preservations Ltd for giving us the opportunity to host this remarkable piece of Great Western history.

Stay tuned for running dates and booking details!

Great to see the railcar getting a chance to stretch its legs!

I know it's not steam, but would be great if there's a way to fit it in at the Cotswold Festival of Steam, for those of us who can only make it down to the GWSR once or twice a year.

That's brilliant news! We must have deep pockets, because it's not cheap to hire. So come one, come all!

I have a photograph of one at Long Marston in 1951, taken by the signalman. Described as a Leamington to Honeybourne journey.

    Long Marston GWR railcar A G Hughes.jpg

Is that not a GWR inspection saloon behind it?

Might it be pulling an autocoach? That seems to me to make more sense, but it's difficult to be sure!
