That's a fair chunk higher than UK stuff- isn't 13' 6" the usual max?

I wouldn't have thought there's much scope to lower its height?

IIRC the LYR loading gauge was very much greater than most and was pretty much the same as the GWR. Whether those remarks apply to the East Lancashire section of the LYR is another matter

Perhaps having exhaust arrangements like this SAR Class 19C could be an option. :)

Well the picture in the link on post #855 shows the loco on the crossover between platforms 2and 3. So we can assume it made it safely from Baron st to the crossover or vice versa but we know no more. Where did it go, does it fit in the platforms?

Anyone able to check railcam for last Thursday?

Surely given your loco preferences a Lemaitre with a very stumpy chimney :)

For the uninitiated, iirc this was a rather left-field experiment in spark arresting. Needless to say it wasn’t repeated!

AFAIK just one other loco was converted in the experiment, a GEA(?) Garratt. The 19C was nicknamed Takbok and the Garratt Renoster - Afrikaans for reindeer and rhinoceros respectively. I think there’s a picture of both of them in The Great Steam Trek.

Yes, that’s as I recall it too (had forgotten the Garratt. You’ve saved me trying to find my copy, post- house move.

RTT suggests 60163 is arriving this Friday, any chance it will be used ahead of the Legends weekend, over Easter?

Nipped over to the ELR at Heywood this afternoon, I had a couple of items of memorabilia to donate to the railway.
Got some shots of 60163 while there before she leaves on Tuesday.
