If we are playing the guessing game, how about 4953, it's black, not scheduled on the EOR (they are using a visiting INDUSTRIAL!) and can't see it's visiting anywhere else?

It won't be Pitchford Hall, not with this level of secrecy. Been running for a few years and its been to other railways in that time too. I'd say all signs point towards 45110.

the slight romantic in me was and in part still is , hoping that just once a railway could actually bring an engine in, have it on the deck and then reveal . In an age of grapevines, and social media , something to beat all of that and create a truly special moment .

If anyone can do that WCR can, both 45110 and Kolhapur seemed to make it from the Midlands to Carnforth by road without being seen.....

As said previously Beachy Head is at Didcot for the next couple of weeks - and can only take load 5 if it's mk1s on steep gradients, 6 if it's grouping-era bogie coaches or maybe on an easier line.

Theoretically it could be something from the Bluebell - although I haven't heard anything. As far as I can see the only option for load 7 would be the 4MT tank 80151. 34059 and 73082 are both out down here this weekend, as is 65 (which went last year). 72 Fenchurch is presumably available but would do load 2.

Could it be 2999 Lady of Legend? On loan to the Bluebell but not currently rostered for the immediate future.

Our offices have been receiving calls from folk desperately trying to find out what it is. Not quite sure why they think they would get the desired answer when it hasn't been broadcast elsewhere though! Maybe we should give our office staff a list of random loco numbers to stir things up a bit.

So is 68067 and it has been 'on tour' this year. Not sure it's capable of hauling load 7 though.

I imagine you didn’t have time to answer the calls Mike as you were too busy replying to all those Facebook tags about the plates in the Crewe auction ;)

I’m surprised no one’s worked it out yet though, one clue was nostalgic, another is it’s black I reckon you've repatriated Robert Nelson no4 from Ireland and overhauled it in secret - you heard it here first :D
