Interesting one. I wonder what's happening in Kilmarnock that weekend. Just did a quick Google and found Kilmarnock Farmers Market and a Sport Scotland event on safeguarding children in sport. Both happening in Kilmarnock that weekend. Can't think either of them would be of interest to Mr H though!

It's also Monday-Tuesday that it's running, and there's not much chance of doing anything in Kilmarnock between 22.15 and 07.15 the following morning!

Some interesting ECS moves also involved. Set runs to Carlisle after arrival at Hellifield. Looks like it's electric loco to Crewe, steam to Hellifield (ECS to Carlisle), DMU Hellifield to Carlisle. Diesel Carlisle to Kilmarnock. Tuesday sees diesel Kilmarnock to Carlisle for electric back to Euston. Diesel then goes to Upperby before heading back to Crewe with the steam loco.

So a train from Euston to Kilmarnock which possibly includes a Pacer over the S&C, they sure know how to have a good time don't they...

I'm guessing it's going to be the bubble car for that leg, as it heads to Upperby afterwards. There are three workings into Upperby over the two days but only one back to Crewe, which I assume will be steam + diesel + bubble car.

I think that it's steam again from Carlisle to Kilmarnock, and steam from Kilmarnock back as far as Carlisle on the Tuesday,

It should be 37s from Carlisle to Kilmarnock and back to Carlisle the following morning.

Does anybody know what the coaching stock is - the regular train or the chairman's train?

It was the official press launch of the Chairman's Train, which looks to be Jeremy Hosking's way of competing against Belmond. It's going to be doing multi-day tours across the country at a cost of £9k per person. I've posted more detail in the thread in the General Railway Chat forum.

And here it is enjoying a lucky break in the gathering clouds while crossing Dutton Viaduct.

To complete a steamy lunchtime in Cheshire while waiting for the train the steam tug 'Kerne' headed downstream on the Weaver Navigation.

Approaching the lovely hamlet of Selside, LNER Peppercorn Class A2 No. 60532 'Blue Peter' heads the 'Chairmans Train' to Ribblehead and onwards to Carlisle. Two minutes before and two minutes after Selside was in full sun!!

I hope you also got a shot of the Kerne, last time I saw her was when there was a steam rally based at the Leigh Arms, and they were doing short trips down the river. Quite a long time back, though.

Unfortunately Ralph; no. I was in position for 60532 when Kerne passed by and wouldn't have made it to a decent position by the canal in time. I remember that steam rally (but when was it ?).
It's an odd coincidence but when 60532 returned with the ecs from it's first run out with the chairmans train on 14/7/24 it was only a matter of minutes after The Danny had sailed under the viaduct. Maybe one day !
