    Sadly I’ve not been to Crich since around this time, when we lived relatively locally. I have very clear and happy memories of visits there, open air rides and flipping seats at the end of the line.

    Must find a way to get back there some time soon.

    A Friday and a day off work with a trip to Rotherham. The surprise of the day being Duchess of Hamilton on transfer to York Railway Museum. Pure chance capture, no internet advanced notice of such moves 50 years ago.

    No I do not currently volunteer
    Just popping into this self-indulgent thread to mention what I hope to be doing tomorrow - 23/05/26 - namely leaving Waterloo behind a Merchant Navy locomotive heading for Exeter. It just so happens that sixty years ago tomorrow I was also leaving Waterloo behind a MN - 35013 - heading for Basingstoke.

    Perhaps of greater note was the fact that three days later, on 26/5/66, I was hauled out of Waterloo on the 13:30 Weymouth service by the same loco that will be on the RTC ACE tomorrow - i.e. 35028 Clan Line.

    There are times in your life when you have to pinch yourself to check it is real!
