If it does run on Monday, I wonder how many of the passengers, booked as part of a package, will realise quite how close they came to missing out.

Also, if an exemption has been issued or new CDL system for mk1s in place ought there not be some refresher/familiarisation before passenger use? The SRPS recently did some comissioning trains with their CDL fitted mk1s, as an example.

But not a million miles away, especially if WC has the impetus of needing it done.
On the other hand, it not being rushed might be an indication of not so much urgency .....

Or cdl fitted mk2's and air braked given the need to preserve the paths rather than sold out customer trains , and save the shiny mk1's for the coast to coast with a WC loco at the helm

I have no idea nd until someone catches sight of the ECS we'll have to wait and see

Are you meaning the mk2s which have traditionally been used for the pm Jacobite ie toplights, pv? Some of those had already been newly CDL fitted I think it was reported.
That would be logical and then allow Galatea, or whatever its currently disguised as, to work some newly CDL fitted (or newly re- exempted) vac stock on the Coaster.

48151 has also worked the Jacobite in the past, but isn't ideal on the route!

Why would WCRC guards who already work Mk2's and NB stock fitted with CDL need "a refresher"? That implies something already existed. There may be a training issue if it is significantly different to a Mk2, but I do not see why it would be.

My initial supposition was that the stock would be dual braked mk1s newly fitted with CDL capable in either mode.
Additionally, it doesn't necessarily follow that the staff are common to all WC ops and its over six months since the 2025 Jacobite ended, a time period which commonly in the railway industry triggers a need for refresher.

I'm no expert on the detail but I think one of the Jacobite Guards worked that route on 'our' GB only last month. (another was onboard too)

Given all the malarkey that has gone before there's a bit of me that thinks the best message to give the company, not the crews, would be if the ECS were to run from Carnforth to FW without a photographer in sight.

Do you really think anyone at 10A would actually care?

Probably not but sometimes silent messages strike home more than pages of rants on here. ;)

5Z10 activated in TRUST for tomorrow, so looks like it's running.
