No I do not currently volunteer
I also visited yesterday, my first ever visit to the line (taking advantage of the fact I was staying in Birmingham Saturday night, and there's an hourly direct bus from the city centre to Brownhills West, only 15min walk from the line).

Despite its small size, they really do pack a lot in, with an excellent collection of ex-industrial locos, fielding 4 in steam at once is impressive!
I also liked the fact that, with the short distance between stations and long station stops, it was easy to walk to suitable vantage points, photograph the train come through and then get back on it at the next station!

The event seemed to be well attended, with the cafes at both ends doing good business, so hopefully it was a successful day from the railway's point of view.

I really enjoyed it and will definitely be coming back again!
