    For reasons that are still known only to those actually involved, they ousted the goose that was supplying the golden eggs, and it’s all gone down hill since.

    Scotsman is Scotsman. Tornado is, now, just a run of the mill steam loco.

    Reading between the lines, the fact that 2253 is going out with a diesel does manle me think that the oil firing is not yet going to plan. The various photos showing a black exhaust seem to support this.
    2 =2 does make 5, doesn't it?;)

    I saw her today in stabled outside the workshop in Grosmont and she seemed to be steaming quite well.

    If it’s simply stabled I’m not sure how you could come to any conclusion on its ability to steam.

    Well I haven't seen a post by him as yet, so I do wonder where it was - welcome though!

    He ‘liked’ my post 10749. He’s not posted anything since November 2019.

    Give him a chance, he's got about 500 pages of catchup to do first! :) (And that's to say nothing of the WSR and L&B threads... :eek:)

    Well when we passed earlier on the service to Pickering she was lit up and steaming nicely.

    When I visited the loco shed she was stabled and looking gleaming and ready to go.

    I think he "liked" one of my posts on 76079 quite recently, so he's obviously still watching. I spoke to him a couple of months ago, and I would say that he's as dismayed at the current state of the NYMR as most of us long-timers seem to be, though. One piece of news I've been told today, though I haven't seen it reported anywhere yet, is the the Trust Board Chairman has resigned, and that a certain very influential signaller with legal leanings is likely to step down from the Trust Board as well this year. A last some good news!

    You would know better than me, but I wonder if the diesel is there as a precaution whilst firemen are still being trained?
