RTC Portsmouth Flyer - 13/06/26

    Tickets arrived today. Out via Staines, Haslemere and Fareham (reverse). Back 'direct' from Portsmouth Harbour via Hamble, Soton and Laverstock.

    It's not far to Portsmouth from London but it seems the return, that's about 140 miles, takes five and a half hours. That is rather a trundle but at least the destination has options.

    Nothing on RTT yet but I'm sure something will appear by mid-week.

    However, the last pick up is at Woking at 09:34. So on that basis the charter will be through Godalming shortly before 10:00.

    I'll be over in the UK for the weekend and may well be at Godalming on Saturday as well,
    though I don't think you can get on the platform without a ticket due to the gates.
    Milford station is still open but it's mostly downhill after Milford hospital, so not much chance of any noise.

    You definitely can't get on the station without a ticket. But you can get on the road behind it and only be a platform width away.
    Farncombe has a level crossing at both ends, so that might be good.

    My parents can see the railway from their house, so I doubt they'll walk down.

    Unless there’s a jobsworth on duty they usually let you through the barriers if you ask. After the short dip beyond Milford it’s up 1 in 80 to Haslemere. I think the conditional path you have found is the one for the old Surrey Hills Pullman.
