Note that West Midlands Trains are out on strike Friday / Saturday, so completely messed up our plan to get into Birmingham New Street and out again on return.
Now booked a Premier Inn near Coleshill Parkway & going up Friday evening, so not quite the budget day out we originally envisaged!

Looks like a late start as the empties appear to be stuck outside of New Street

Edit: Just got the road to move

Into Tamworth 50 late. Nice sprint up to 75mph, few smuts come through window, so steam doing a little bit of work at least.

From the rear coach I can certainly attest that 37420 is doing its fair share!

After running almost an hour late earlier in its journey from Birmingham New Street to Liverpool Lime Street, BR(W) Castle class 4-6-0 No. 7029 Clun Castle was just 21 minutes behind time as it eased through Hartford station on Saturday 11th July 2026 with Vintage Trains Ticket To Ride charter. By this point the train was only a few minutes behind the stopping service to Lime Street (also running late).

Thanks for the picture but <pedant mode on> 7029 Clun Castle was built to a GWR design but by BR in 1950.

Being held at Huyton apparently due to a lineside fire between Winsford and Acton Bridge causing signalling issues.

I don't know what has caused said fire - apparently a different steam train earlier, but have any others been up the WCML today?
