34072 is booked out on the passenger services tomorrow, with 20066 rostered to work departmental moves throughout the day.

Just found this on the events section, and as the hot weather continues here in Dorset.

"Due to forecast extreme temperatures, Swanage Railway will operate the Green Timetable with diesel services today (14th July) and tomorrow (15th July) to help protect the safety and wellbeing of our staff, volunteers, infrastructure and guests."
Wonder how hot the interior of Corfe signalbox will be tomorrow?

A sensible decision I would think Andy. However if 25C is now seen as extreme I better get far more used to the sound of what I and the wife call "incoming" when 20066 is operating.
May be a bit warm in your box though.

Steam back tomorrow according to the railways Facebook page, with 31806 doing the honours and the T3 on show at Swanage.
    Hope all goes well.

Following on from the turntable discussion from Railukfourms,

Does swanage railway still have the Old Oak Common turntable in its collection, if so where is it?

I belive it was donated. Any progress with putting it down somewhere like the much talked about water tower project

Yes - it’s dismantled and stored on several flatbeds, I believe in the Down Siding at Furzebrook but it could also be in Woodpecker Siding, just north of Norden. There isn’t really a suitable location currently available to put it, circular areas of 70ft+ in a convenient location for the railway and charters to regularly use aren’t really very common!

I believe some years back, Herston, in the flood defence field was considered for the OOK turntable, but was filed under 'nice to have' but not a priority.

Thank you Gary, didn't realise it was only 13 years ago.
There are plans somewhere for what we called at the time Crewe South on that patch of land.
Drawn up by Mike Hoskin (him of Turkish 8F fame) it was a million pound development, all well and good when we were turning over about £50k a year at the time and before the land was requisitioned for the flood defence programe.

Whilst I would love to see the turntable installed I am also a great fan of the flood defences, especially as what is now our current home can be seen around 3 minutes 45 on this clip. Around 6 mins 28 a view of some coaching stock from Court Road.
