Threlkeld Steam Gala 24-26 July 2026

Annual event has been announced and visitors confirmed, always a good day out for the narrow minded amongst us. Weather forecast changes by the day but Friday and Saturday currently look the best, wet all day Sunday; link:

Would this be the first time that Glyder has hauled a passenger train?

 

Nice record of an enjoyable day.

 

By complete coincidence we were passing yesterday on the A66, so it seemed rude not to pop on for a couple of hours.

A very friendly and relaxed railway. I understand this was Glyder's first passenger trains in preservation.

 

We chose to go Friday for the better forecast (no rain), it remained overcast for most of the day. Quiet in the morning, few more in after lunch, but it was a weekday. Part one is a collection of shots from around the shed/station.

 

Part two is scenes from around the quarry in the afternoon.

 

We went on Saturday, very atmosphereic weather for quarry engines. Good also to see the display from the Gowrie project. Worth the long trek up from Lincs!

 

A sometimes wet, but enjoyable Saturday, with the visitors looking very much at home.
