6233 Duchess of Sutherland takes the Railway Touring Company's Cumbrian Mountain Express next Saturday.

It was meant to go over the Settle & Carlisle for the northbound run, and back via Shap. But due to engineering works on the S&C, this tour will now be over Shap both ways.

I'm off work for this one as well so will be linesiding probably at Golborne and then somewhere near Shap. Seems to have been a lack of steam in the northwest of late and I was working when 6201 was out last weekend.

The change of route persuaded me to book on this one. It will be my first ever run over Shap and my first run behind a Princess Coronation.
I prefer to photograph the October one when the light should be better.

Well it does belong here anyway. Don't mind these GW, LNER or SR coming round here now and again just to emphasis how lucky we are to have 4 class locos that live and work in this area. :-#

    Cumbrian Mountain Express 18th July.

Looks like a usual day for a CME, wet and windy...

Re: Cumbrian Mountain Express 18th July.

Just got in from chasing 6233 on the outward run and then saw her again near Broughton. A few minutes down at Golborne, couple of minutes early at Scotsmans Bridge and I think on time at Broughton on the return.

I will post up a picture that Jake took shortly, will sort out the video later, I need a brew first!

    Neil.

Thanks Neil. It looks as if you had a little bit of sun on Shap. I decided not to go up today as it looked a bit dull.
    Ah well.
