Perhaps it was due to it being a tad cooler but we had a very good Sunday yesterday as regards visitors and secondary spend. Some families stayed several hours riding on the large train and small miniture railway.
How were numbers on other railways this weekend I wonder?
We are a small line compared to our big brothers but everyone seemed to enjoy themsleves. We have been no steam for several weeks now but interestingly several commented to me when having cab visits they did not expect steam due to the dry ground conditions but then the area has had several, thankfully small, wildfires only a couple of miles away.
Another thing I found surprising was that, when explaining the railway used to go to Lewes with trains to Brighton and London, several families from Lewes did not know know that or indeed know where the line went through Lewes itself. None expected the railway to be reopened as a through route and were not surprised when I mentioned the millions required to even expand our little section.

This is really good news. Although it’s been a while since my last visit, I always loved the atmosphere at Isfield, the demus were also a large part of the attraction! I really must organise a return visit.
