    Recognising @5944 's post above, it's fair to say that Bittern is in rather better condition than 35025, so I'm not sure the parallel is quite as clearcut as you describe.

    I love your idea that when a main line registered loco is 'out working' there is precious little for workshop volunteers to do.

    Can I suggest to you that the same people are just as busy; they are simply doing different stuff.
