Indeed and it does amaze me at times how impatient some folk can be when the event is still a week away. Given that I am one of those who would have liked to meet up with 80097 but sadly will miss the gala this year I can live with the changes! :) I hope it goes well; the SVR never disappoints.

Well I was hoping to meet up with 80097 too as I've never seen that one, but I'm more than happy to meet up with 46115 again after many years. I had a very good trip from York to Carlisle behind it some years ago. Really surprised to see it though - I didn't realise it was still "in ticket". Is it that the main line certification has expired but the boiler certificate is still valid, as sometimes happens?

Just going to be one of those people who is going to ask sooner or later but what are the planned loco directions please? (Apart from everything faces Highley ;) )

Glad Ben asked that as it was high up my mind too as I'm looking forward to working out which portion of the day to spend photographing and when to travel!

Had a familiar SVR experience of thinking I probably wouldn't go to this gala then reading the timetable and realising I definitely wanted to!

Must admit the change of visitor was a personal disappointment as I'm fond of smaller engines having to work harder, and in particular was looking forward to 5526 on the SVR. It's an engine I've enjoyed lot on the my local line, the South Devon, and when hearing it barking out of Staverton or away from Nappers have repeatedly thought 'I'd love to hear this on a bigger load up a hill'. Maybe another time, though I think it must be out of ticket soon as I've got a feeling it was 2016 it came back from overhaul?

But I imagined that I was very much in the minority being more excited about a Prairie and a Standard tank than 6115 and 3850 so I'm sure overall this switch will be good for the gala's appeal!

And having seen the timetable, it's reminded me that the amount of late evening running, the double-headed Panniers, 813 and 1450 in action, and 4150's debut are all things I'm very, very keen for so barring any home or work surprises I'll look forward to being there next Friday afternoon and evening.

The early morning auto trains will be a treat for those taking part in the commuter trial!

Part of the job. If we want succesful events we have to provide what people want. I’m very much sat in the gala group to ensure we drive events for the people as much as the volunteers

Also much appreciated, as is a public timetable with the loco allocations which wasn't always the case with the ASG!

Not directly related to the gala, but with one of your other hats on, I believe 2857 was intended to go up north on the low loader bringing 80097. Any update on that front?
